Yunkawasi: 10 years conserving the ecosystems of Peru

Our objectives are to inspire and educate local people, build the capacities of community decision makers, and conduct scientific research on poorly understood and understudied species.
We work tirelessly to achieve these goals. Get to know our work and join our efforts!

We have a permanent project with yellow-tailed woolly monkeys in ACP Hierba Buena-Allpayacu to understand their ecology and behavior.

Andean Bear

Did you know there is a golden colored Andean bear? Learn about our work with the Andean bears and the peculiar population of the ACP Copal, near the rural communituy of Corosha.

Andean night monkey

The mysterious Andean night monkey is only found in the Andes of Peru. We study a population living at 3,000 meters of altitude in the ACP Huiquilla.
We use charismatic species to attract public attention, and promote awareness and support for the conservation of Peru's biological diversity. The yellow-tailed woolly monkey and the Andean bear are our main allies in this effort!

Our mission
